Age of marriage and Sura 65:4

Age of marriage and Sura 65:4

The team have a heated discussion about whether or not it was right for Muhammad (54) to marry Aisha when she was 6 and consummate the relationship when she was 9. The discussion then turns to Sura 65:4:

“And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women – if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him of his matter ease.”

The most authoritative early tafsirs – Ibn Kathir, Ibn Abbas, Al Jalalyn, plus numerous others ALL agree this is referring to girls who have not yet started their periods. For more information, please see this article: https://www.answering-islam.org/Quran…

  1. The Arabic woman who claimed she knows the real meaning of S 65:4 , is either purely ignorant about Islam or purely deceitful , because she by her own claim considered herself more knowledgeable and even seemingly ‘above’ of at least three ( Ibn Kathir, Al-Jalalyn, Ibn Abbas) respected not to mention reliable Sunni scholars in the study of Interpreting Quran (Tafseer) . However since she claimed to be an Arabic native i think she’s more to be deceitful instead of ignorant because the fact is this child bride practice ( either marriage between very old guy with minor or minor male with minor female) is quite an ‘epidemic’ in Arab’s world.

My suggestion is , in order to be more ‘well prepared’ DCCI team should’ve brought the data of countries ( which are mostly muslims majority by the way ) that allow child marriages such as Saudi Arabia, Sudan , Qatar, etc . Because we all know Action Speaks Louder than Words , no matter how hard and deceitful they try to cover up and deny but in the end reality can not lie.
