Lying in Islam

Lying in Islam.

Lizzie talks to an agnostic man about lying in Islam, and shares the Gospel with him. S3:28: Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them.

Tafsir ibn kathir on Sura 3:28 : “…meaning (…) believers are allowed to show friendship to the disbelievers outwardly, but never inwardly. For instance, Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Ad-Darda’ said, “We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them.”

What is taqqiya?

What is taqqiya?

Lizzie and Abbas discuss taqqiya – lying in Islam. But they (the Jews) were deceptive, and Allah was deceptive, for Allah is the best of deceivers (Wamakaroo wamakara Allahu waAllahu khayru al-makireena)! S. 3:54; cf. 8:30

Sahih bukhari 5:59:369 Muhammad bin Maslama said, “Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Kab).” The Prophet said, “You may say it.” […] When Muhammad got a strong hold of him, he said (to his companions), “Get at him!” So they killed him and went to the Prophet and informed him.

Tirmidhi 4:1:1939 Asma bint Yazid narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: “it is not lawful to lie except in three cases: Sahih Bukhari 3:49:857 That she heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things, is not a liar.” 1. Something the man tells his wife to please her, 2. to lie during war, 3. and to lie in order to bring peace between the people.” (Sahih)

Does Islam allow lying?

Does Islam allow lying?

Many Sunni Muslims will deny the doctrine of taqqiya (lying), saying it is only practised by Shi’as. Lizzie and Hatun shows how taqqiya originates with Allah and Muhammad.

Sahih Bukhari 5:59:369: Allah’s Messenger said, “Who is willing to kill Ka`b bin Al-Ashraf who has hurt Allah and His Apostle?” Thereupon Muhammad bin Maslama got up saying, “O Allah’s Messenger! Would you like that I kill him?” The Prophet said, “Yes,” Muhammad bin Maslama said, “Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Ka`b). “The Prophet said, “You may say it.”
