Lizzie talks to a Muslim about Islamic paradise versus heaven in Christianity.
Was Muhammad peaceful?
A Christian talks to Hashim about Sura 5:32-3, and why Muhammad had his critics assassinated?
“Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment” Sura 5:32-33
FGM in Islamic sources.
Narrated Umm Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband. Abu Dawud 41:5251
Umm al-Muhajir said, “I was captured with some girls from Byzantium. ‘Uthman offered us Islam, but only myself and one other girl accepted Islam. ‘Uthman said, ‘Go and circumcise them and purify them.'” Al-adab al mufrad 53:1245
The Messenger of Allah said: When anyone sits amidst four parts (of the woman) and the circumcised parts touch each other a bath becomes obligatory. Muslim 3:684
Umm ‘Alqama related that when the daughters of ‘A’isha’s brother were circumcised (al-adab al amufrad 53:1247)
Circumcision is obligatory (O: for both men and women. For men it consists of removing the prepuce from the penis, and for women, removing the prepuce (Ar. bazr) of the clitoris (n: not the clitoris itself, as some mistakenly assert). (A: Hanbalis hold that circumcision of women is not obligatory but sunna, while Hanafis consider it a mere courtesy to the husband.). Reliance of the Traveller p59
FGM “makes the woman calm” according to one Muslim.
Lizzie talks to some Muslims about FGM, showing it was practised in the time of Muhammad from Islamic sources and is even in a Sharia manual today (Reliance of the Traveller p.59.)
At one point, one of her interlocutors says “if you cut her, the woman will be more calm.” (10:52) and that it stops the woman being “horny.” (13.00)
Lizzie contrasts this with Romans 2:29: ‘No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code.”
Are the Torah and the Gospel reliable?
Daniel discusses with the Islamic Dawah Team if the Torah and Gospel are reliable.
The discussion centres on Sura 2:78 and 2:79, which the Da’wah team say proves corruption of the Torah – Daniel argues otherwise.
“And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking, but they are only assuming. So woe to those who write the “scripture” with their own hands, then say, “This is from Allah,” in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.” (Sura 2:78-9)
